“When you think about it, you might
change your attitude a little”

Perceptions of a data-driven development work for increased
school mood. By Richard Janveden.

Summary

Based on the R&D program Data-driven School Improvement, Fridagymnasiet in Vänersborg has focused on trying to support the mentor’s role. This has been implemented, among other things, by continuously collecting data on the students’ well-being at school, in this article referred to as school well-being. This survey aims to investigate users’ experiences, attitudes and insights into this process, by answering the following questions:

  • What perceptions do students express regarding data collection of school mood?
  • What perceptions do teachers express regarding data collection of school mood?

In order to be able to answer the questions, focus group interviews were conducted with students and a conversational interview with two teachers. The results indicate that the way in which the data collection is carried out, both in the concrete situation and as a systematic tool, plays a major role in how the data collection is perceived and how the data can be used.
